This course is FREE and designed for the beginner. We will start by covering gear, knots and flies before heading to the park for an intro to casting. Class will run from 10am - 12pm. For a more in depth exploration consider attending our ORVIS 102 which will take place on the water and cover reading water, wading, casting and setting the hook. The 102 class is $40 and will be held after the 101 class.
Designed as an extension of our FREE Orvis 101 class, the 102 class goes more in depth. Held on the water with instruction in casting, wading, reading the water, positioning, drifts, fly selection and setting the hook this class is intended to give the beginning angler a comprehensive course in the basics of fly fishing. The 102 class meets from 1:30-3:30. Plan on being at the Taos Fly Shop at 1:15 to get everything you need for the class.
The Streit’s and their guides are the logical choice to conduct this school as Taylor was elected as a “legendary guide” in 2001 into the Freshwater Fishing Hall Of Fame. He and Nick have 60 years of guiding experience! This four day school should not be missed by anyone who has a desire to enter the business.
